Privacy Policy

1. Information We Do and Do Not Collect

Personal Information: We currently do not collect any personally identifying information— such as name or email address. You are not required to create an account, and you may use Driftwell anonymously. If we introduce optional user accounts in the future, we may collect email addresses or usernames; we will update this Privacy Policy before collecting any such data.

Usage Data: We automatically collect certain technical information about how the App is used, including:

  • Device type (e.g., iPhone or iPad model)
  • Operating system version
  • App version
  • Crash logs and diagnostic data (via Sentry)

This information helps us understand how the App performs and where improvements are needed. It does not identify you personally.

User-Generated Content: When you create “saved stories” within the App, those stories are uploaded and stored on our backend (hosted by Supabase). We do not access or use the content of your saved stories for any purpose other than to display and manage them within the App.

2. How We Use Your Information

App Functionality & Maintenance:

  • Storage of Saved Stories: We store any stories you choose to save so that you can access them across devices. This data resides in a Supabase database under our control.
  • Anonymous Analytics & Crash Reporting: We use Sentry to collect crash logs and diagnostic data. This helps us detect bugs, crashes, and performance issues so we can improve the App’s stability and user experience.

Not Used for Advertising: We do not use your information for advertising purposes, and we do not embed any advertising SDKs in the App. We do not sell or rent your data to advertisers or third-party marketers.

3. Information Sharing & Disclosure

We rely on the following third-party services to provide essential App functionality:

  • Supabase: Stores user-generated content (saved stories) and any account credentials if/when we introduce login features. Supabase acts solely as our data host and does not share your data with other customers.
  • Sentry: Collects anonymized crash and performance data. Sentry does not receive any personal information.

We do not share, sell, or otherwise disclose your personal or usage data with any third parties, except:

  • To Comply with Legal Obligations: If required by law, subpoena, or governmental authority, we may disclose information.
  • To Protect Rights: To enforce our Terms of Service or protect the rights, property, or safety of Sitka Labs, our users, or the public.

4. Data Storage & Security

Where We Store Data: All user-generated content and any future account data are stored on Supabase servers, which implement industry-standard security measures. Crash logs and diagnostic data collected by Sentry are stored on Sentry’s secure servers.

Security Measures: We employ administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. We use TLS/SSL encryption for data in transit between the App and our backend servers. While we strive to protect your information, no security system is impenetrable. We continually assess and update our security practices but cannot guarantee absolute security of data.

5. Your Rights & Choices

Access, Correction & Deletion: Although Driftwell currently does not collect personal data beyond what you enter as saved stories, you may request deletion of any user-generated content or account data (if/when accounts exist). To request deletion of your saved stories or any personal data, please contact us at data@driftwell.app. We will honor your request except insofar as we must retain certain information for legal or legitimate business purposes (e.g., maintaining audit logs).

Data Portability: If we introduce user accounts in the future and you choose to provide personal information (e.g., email), you will have the right to request a copy of your data in a commonly used electronic format. You can submit a request by emailing data@driftwell.app.

Opt-Out of Analytics: If you wish to opt-out of crash reporting, you may disable “Send Crash Reports” within your device’s Settings > Privacy > Analytics & Improvements. Disabling this setting prevents Driftwell from sending any crash or diagnostic data.

6. Children’s Privacy

Driftwell is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at data@driftwell.app so that we can remove such information from our systems.

7. Compliance with Laws

We comply with applicable privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), where applicable. If you reside in the European Union, you have certain rights under the GDPR, including the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data. To exercise these rights, please contact us at data@driftwell.app. If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to request deletion. To make a CCPA request, please email data@driftwell.app.

8. Third-Party Links & Services

Driftwell does not include any third-party advertisements or social media integrations. If, in the future, we add links to external websites or services, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party websites or services you access through our App.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page and, if required by law, notify you through the App or via email. All changes take effect immediately upon posting.
